Hi, I’m Kerryn Steel, the devoted owner of The Barking Barber.

After dedicating nineteen years serving as a Police Officer, dealing with all things human, I felt a deep desire to embark on a new journey and what could be more fulfilling than working with dogs!

As the doting owner of “Receptionist Shih Tzu Raff” my love for our furry companions has grown strong.  I have embraced the opportunity to be trained by Leanne Kingsbury who is a Master Dog Groomer of 24 years, Senior Certifier for the National Dog Groomers Association, both International and National Grooming Judge and absolute lover of dogs.

I have created a quiet, cosy dog grooming salon in the heart of West Melton, Christchurch.  I want your dog to have a stress-free quiet time while being groomed and I will do all I can to ensure this happens.

Puppy Grooming

The Barking Barber can’t stress enough how important it is for your puppy to come in as early as possible for their first groom. It is so beneficial to have your puppies first groom from ten weeks old. This package is suitable for puppies up to six months old.

This helps your puppy become familiar with a grooming experience which will be beneficial for their lifetime of grooming.

  • 4 Bath & Brush sessions

Please note the above pricing is a guide only and based on a 4-6 week grooming schedule.  Prices may vary depending on coat condition, matting, temperament etc.

All grooming services will be undertaken once you as the owner have requested your style, length of cut and The Barker Barber has agreed to commence.
